As the days are drawing shorter and the nights are cooler the Western Power Charity Link Winter Appeal 2008 is fast approaching. Thanks to Western Power’s continued sponsorship, Charity Link manages the distribution of new, high quality winter blankets and sleepings bags to ensure that all West Australians stay warm this winter. In 2007, Charity Link distributed $500,00 worth of winter blankets and sleeping bags to West Australians in need and despite recording a 30 per cent increase in the number of requests, in 2007 more than 10,000 blankets will be distributed. According to Charity Link's Executive Officer, Ms Zoe Carson, the sponsorship from Western Australia’s leading energy company will ensure that 100 per cent of all requests for assistance will be met this winter.

“Higher rents and housing, increased interest rates and rising fuel costs are stretching household budgets to the limit, causing not just those who are destitute or those who are on the streets, but families everywhere who have a working mum or dad or both to turn to community groups for assistance because the cost of living has just got too much for them,” said Ms Carson.
“Thanks to the sponsorship from Western Power, the 2007 winter appeal will provide more 10,000 new blankets and sleeping bags to disadvantaged West Australians,” said Ms Carson.
