With Christmas less than seven weeks away, Australia’s favourite Christmas charity, The Kmart Wishing Tree will be launched on 12th November 2008.
“Christmas without presents would be terrible. At least, the appeal gives kids lovely stuff so they can be happy.” According to Charity Link Manager James Marley, the logistics of Australia’s largest appeal calls for an early start.
“Christmas is probably the last thing on everyone’s mind, but unfortunately there is a great need to collect and distribute presents, and we have to start early.”
“With more than 2.1 million Australians currently living below the poverty line we have many groups of people in need. In Western Australia our greatest need for gifts is for boys and girls aged nine years and over.”
